This week on Ladybird we have groomed to ~17KM and turned around due the trail being in great shape and to save some $ on fuel, HOWEVER we made CSA history, we pulled the 275 up the cut blocks, through the shortcut and made our way to Shaw Cabin! Lots of wet snow and some signs of weak bonds with the heavy/wet layers on top. It was wet to the top of everything. The snow line is at the trail head, so please utilize the parking lot for offloading and no driving up. It appears we only have a few weeks left before we may have to start following the snow line up but for now she's snow all the way up. Thank you to all the people that made the short cut happen this year! Today on Goose Creek we have completed the last run of the season on this side, there is approx 3KM of dirt from the parking lot to where you can unload. We have plowed out corners and other areas to park. Today we observed wet snow starting at 1500M getting slightly lighter at 1700m but still heavy at the top. Airport still measured a snow base of 260cm's that included approx 5cm of fresh snow. Temperature was -1c at Shaw cabin.
Ride safe and we will see you on Goose Creek next season! Ladybird - has been groomed to 19KM and back, 25cm fresh snow
Goose Creek - Frosty's, Shaw and the airport trails have been groomed. Approx snow depth at hte airport is 275cm. Watch for the road at the bottom and park respectful for access for all people. Parking is starting around the 2km switch backs. Ladybird has been groomed to 19K and back in preparation for our open house BBQ at Shaw cabin. Snow report is showing 30 +cm's of fresh snow on top of our previous February/March warm spell. Please follow the snow reports Goose Creek, we are planning on grooming early AM ahead of sledders March 15th to Shaw cabin and around to the airport, please watch out for our equipment on the trails if you are one of the early birds. At the bottom, please follow the direction of our volunteer parking assistants on goose creek. The map below is current as of March 14th PM for closet areas to the snow line for parking. There will be some overflow parking in the long straight shady stretch prior to the first switch back corner if need be and if we limit vehicles to one side to have room for the snow cat coming down later. FYI its 16' wide.
Sledders are reporting today of >30cm's of fresh up top in the airport. We look forward to seeing all of you, again we have some limited numbers of special sled club shirts for minimum donation of $20, and some give away hats and other shirts donated from CIMS. This evening, we groomed Shaw, Frosty, and down into the Airport. Snow depth was 245CM's with 10cm of fresh snow on at the airport. The alpine is cooling off but watch for the tree bombs and hard spots where the snow has fallen or slid. Ride safe and we look forward to seeing you all March 15th for our member appreciation day. Thx CSA It is that time of the year where we will now have to follow the snow line up for parking on the goose creek side, see the map below for current conditions and where ideal parking is. For the time being it is not recommended for trailers due to the lack of room to turn around. For anyone planning to utilize a trailer, we would recommend using the ladybird parking lot and using the shortcut over to Shaw.
Ladybird trail to 19k was groomed Thursday evening and observed ~245CM depth at the cat turnaround. Still low elevation and snow is sticky. IT is forecasted that the alpine temps are to drop soon and we are hoping for another high elevation snow reset. Ride safe.
Please do not drive up the trail head past the snow mound and markers. this will help maintain the snow trail for our equipment. Feel free to pull up and unload and the trail head and then park your vehicle accordingly. |
