This afternoon/evening we groomed Goose creek FSR up to Frosty's, Shaw cabin, and up to AND into the airport. We also pushed the ladybird short cut trail from Shaw Cabin up to the flat spots before starting to drop down into the ladybird cut blocks.
Snow base at Airport: 210 Fresh snow at the Airport: 25cm Issues: heavy crusts under from previous rain falls, Be advised we have parked the snow cat just under the 3km bluffs and is where decent trail snow starts. It is advisable to drive up to the switch backs and park there. ALSO, please note at those elevations it is NOT trailer friendly, use ladybird parking lot and take the cross over to Shaw Cabin if need be. We groomed the ladybird FSR up to 19K after our repairs have been completed on the BR 275, be advised we are continuing to fill ditches and lower elevations are still thin, ride safe.
Overall 175cm base, with approx. 20cm of fresh and then a huge rain crust. Today we have groomed the trails up Goose Creek to Shaw Cabin, Frosty's, and down into the Airport. We had to remove many trees from the trail and fill in many creek crossings. Reminder until we get more snow watch out for open holes around the trail as many ditches are open to running water and coverage over some rocky areas are still pretty thin. Snow was observed as ~35cm of fresh storm snow sitting on a pretty large crust to make an overall base of 170cm. As of right now parking is up around the 3km bluffs on the pull out on the right-hand side and below, the snow line starts from there and we would like to kindly ask that vehicles stay there and below to aid in trail building for this season. It is currently snowing at the shop, and we hope the snow line continues to drop. Goose Creek at this moment is not trailer friendly until more snow comes and parking moves down to the main lots. We would suggest using Ladybird side if you have a trailer as you can park at the trail head and ride the trail from there Ride Safe and Merry Christmas from the CSA, Good News! We have started trail building from the Ladybird Parking Lot up to 19K turnaround. snowpack starts pretty thin at the parking lot but is ready to ride from the lot. At this time, we hope that the weather cooperates and allows continued use from the bottom for the rest of our season. Be advised we ran into some mechanical issues with our snow cat from the 19K turnaround back to the lot that left us with limited control functions so be aware there maybe a few humps on the trail that we couldn't do much with and the first bridge has a tiller ramp on the uphill side. Snow report: 8CM fresh in the parking lot, ~140cm at 19K turnaround ~50cm fresh snow at 19K turnaround. Fresh snow started adding up decent around 1400m ***Watch for hidden hazards Please ride with caution, as our trail building is still in progress. Please note, pending some more snow at the bottom of the trail we are hoping (fingers crossed), that we can start trail building on Goose Creek on Saturday December 20th, if at all possible, please use the lot and allow for ideal trail for our team (this will be snow dependent allowing parking that low in the valley) It's that time of the year again as sledding season is just around the corner, we would like to thank all that helped us get here this season with respect to our brushing folks, snow cat maintenance crews, J-Star for our parking lot upgrades on Ladybird side, Trowelex Rentals and Sales for snow cat transport to Ladybird, and CIMS for Donating the first trips of fuel for our Cats.
Currently we are patiently awaiting some more snow before we head up to start creek filling and trail building. It appears the forecast is showing some signs of precipitation in the coming days/week and if it is going to put out like it says it will, we are hoping late next week/weekend we may be able to start that process of building our trails. If your one of the early snowbirds out there, please use the roads safely as they will be slippery, please park off to the side where you can, allow room for others, and watch out for all the hidden hazards out there, It's A-arm season. Don't forget to get your early bird memberships online and Book your stay at the frosty cabin! See you out there soon, CSA, Grooming department |
