Hello Sledders
Its that time of year again when the mountains start calling for many of us to come enjoy them. With that comes grooming the trails to help make that day and season as enjoyable as possible. On Dec 3rd both cats were on the trails working on road building and ditch filling. On Ladybird the 275 filled all cross ditches and creek crossings up to the 19 km cat turnaround, all went well and the cat ran good. The tiller will stay off the machine until there is sufficient snow at the bottom to till without hitting rocks. Unloading at the parking lot with no dirt patches although its pretty thin for a few km. On Goose the 180 was able to get the drag to 9 km without to much trouble but after that the snow got to deep and the trail needed lots of blade work to continue with it. The snow bridge crossing Goose Creek 10 km froze up nice and tight as temps dropped throughout the day. The trail from the cabin to the airport required a few hours to cover several of the larger rocks with snow as its still early season. We turned around at the airport and probed 160 cm of base and 20 cm of fresh. The trail up to Bankert's knob was also pushed and wood hauled up into the Frost Cabin. The bottom of the trail had a few cm on it when we left in the morning but melted off pretty bad with the heat and sled traffic. One may want to unload at around 1.5 km- 2 km if you really despise dirt Please remember to be cautious as the road may become icy. This will be our last mass email for the grooming report as the club now has a website. To find it just look up csasled.org and it should pop right up. If you have any questions just use the contacts that are available there. You can take advantage of the early-bird memberships, regular memberships and trail passes by purchasing everything online now. Hope everyone checks it out and if you would like to see something on it give us some suggestions. Also new this season the club will be accepting debit and credit cards at the parking lots but still best to go online so as to help things move along in the parking lots. For a membership sticker and proof of purchase just print out your receipt. Have a safe season remember to keep right at all times. Comments are closed.
