Goose Creek Trail Dec 28th 2020 With heavy holiday traffic on the Goose Creek trail it was decided to add an extra groom this week to the Airport. Some more ditch filling and road widening to make the trails safer as well as some more firewood dropped off at the Frosty Cabin. The snow has settled slightly to a base of 138cms at the Airport . Still a very noticeable crust layer at 45cms so be aware of your surroundings. A big shout out to CIMS Rossland Division for donating $300 in fuel for the cats this week. Ladybird trail. December 22, 2020 With some fresh snow overnight on the Ladybird trail it was time to head up for the first pass with the Br 275. Enough snow to ride from parking lot, so please don’t drive up on the groomed trail. The trail was in good shape other than several trees needing to be cleared off and cross ditches needing to be filled up top. All went well with 122 cm probed at the cat turn around. Goose Creek trail. Dec 23rd 2020 Goose Creek Trail groomed to the airport with the mogul master drag. All went well with 148 cm probed at the airport and 25 cm of fresh. Hoping these colder temps stick around over the holidays so that our trail might hold up better than last weeks groom. Please help us keep our cabins open during this Covid time. Only use the cabins when needed to warm up or in an emergency. Also note that when the Frosty cabin is rented there will be no entry by the public due to Covid transmission. Be sure to check the Avy report before heading out in the back country and have a safe and Merry Christmas. Almost forgot to mention its the last week to get in on the chance to win one of the great prizes being offered for those purchasing their early bird memberships. Goose Creek Trail With the hopes of getting the cat up to the airport, we decided to set out grooming today on Goose earlier than normal. We managed to pull the drag up to the Shaw Cabin for its first trip to there this season. Dropped the drag and headed up top. Great road building snow today as it had good moisture in it for traction and was still rolling off our blade for road building. At the airport we probed 120 cm with a very thick crust down about 30 cm. After the airport we headed to the Frosty Trail where we dropped off some wood at the Frosty Cabin and managed to get the cabin area into pretty good shape. Please remember these are early times in the season especially down low where we are still below average snow conditions for this time of year. Have a good weekend and be sure to check your avalanche report before heading out into the back country. Ladybird Trail still waiting on some snow so we can get the cat up to 11 km Grooming on hold while we wait for more snow and cooler temps. With the warmer temps and no fresh this week it was decided to hold off on Goose Creek trail. Some good news to pass along is that the logging crew is out of Lady Bird so we will just wait for some snow to get the BR 275 up to 11 Km as we have not had any fresh snow since the grader did it last plow of the road. While you wait for conditions to improve think about purchasing that earlybird membership. This year with no chance of hosting our annual fundraiser it was decided to put up some incentives to help kick off the season. With a $500 first prize and a couple of great prizes donated by She Shreds Mountain Adventures it’s well worth your time to purchase early for a chance to win one of these three prizes. Memberships are available here on our website as well as Playmor Power Products and Bubblies Liquor Store. Everyone who purchases their early bird membership before Dec 31 2020 will be entered to win 3 AMAZING PRIZES... 1 - $500 COLD HARD CASH!!!!!!
