Grooming Report March 29th 2019

Goose Creek Trail March 28th   2019

The last groom on Goose for this season. With nighttime temps just not getting cold enough to help keep the lower section of trails manageable we decided to pull the cat off the hill after grooming to the airport with the drag.
All signage is removed and bamboo poles were pulled. The trail itself was in great shape with very little traffic on it in the past  week.
We probed 195 cm at the airport with 8 cm of compact fresh on top of spring snow that was solid at the time.
If your planning on riding this weekend you should be able to get your truck to 2 km so long as your not pulling a trailer. At the bluffs there is about 50 meters of dirt and all good after that. Use caution as spring means creeks starting to open soon.

Ladybird Trail Mach 27 2019

Ladybird Trail inspected and in great shape no dirt so far from the parking lot. We will do next weeks groom and see how the trail is doing for snow then decide if it will be our last as well.

Tip of the week- This spring season will be different there are rocks showing where we would not see them normally for another month use caution.

Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

Ladybird Trail March 21st 2019

Trail groomed to 19 km cat turnaround on Norns Creek. All went well with the snow pack taking quit a hit with the recent heat wave. No dirt patches yet.

Goose Creek Trail March 21st 2019

After pulling the drag up to 5 km (old sawmill site) we made the decision not continue with the groom as the trail was in excellent shape and to keep going was probably going to do more harm then good.
Pulling the drag in warm temps does work pretty good but the snow has not quit changed enough to where it will flow out the back of the drag. The drag is up at 5 km and the cat is parked at 1.5 km to see if we can save the snow down below as the cat does cause the trail to melt quicker in this kind of heat.
Some dirt patches but very minimal, so we should get one more weekend in the parking lot maybe even two if it cools down.

Tip of the week: The snow pack is like mash potatoes be cautious as we did not have the usual settling throughout the last couple months.

Check the Avy reports and be safe out there.

With  the snow at 4500 ft grooming out nicely and the trail in decent shape we decided to head to Cooley Lake with the drag. At the meadow trail fork the traffic towards Cooley looked light so we dropped the drag and track packed the rest of the way to Cooley Lake. After getting back to the drag we made our way  up to the airport where there was a 242 cm base and 12 cm of nice powder since our last groom.

The 275 was up to the 19 km cat turnaround on Norns creek with 12 cm of fresh on trail as well. Still decent powder up top as temps are staying just cool enough. With high temps forecasted next week be sure to be safe out there check the avy conditions. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks to everyone who signed up this year and to those of you that use the collection boxes to pay trail passes even when there is not a volunteer there collecting. All money goes right back into maintaining the trails and keeping the club running.

Ladybird Trail March 6th 2019

With by far the best ever February temperatures  behind us we were hoping to stay cool for just a few more grooms.   Staying just below freezing in the cold Ladybird Creek valley the 275 had another good trip up to the Norn’s creek cat turnaround, as the trail held together nicely from last weeks groom. Snowing lightly with 2 cm of  new snow since last weeks groom.
With over a month of excellent temps the trail  base is frozen for about 30 cm which should help to maintain decent trails with the warmer temps soon arriving.

Goose Creek Trail March 7th 2019

Groomed to the airport with the drag and the Br-180. All went well with 18 cm of fresh snow since last week and snowing at the top. The snow pack grew slightly to 242 cm.
Frosty trail track packed as well.

Tip of the week  As the warmer temps arrive go easy on the trail and the trail will go easy on you.

Keep an eye on changing temps as the snow pack will also change quickly. Check the avy reports and have a good weekend.
