Ladybird Trail Feb 27th 2019 With reports of the Cayuse trail being in rough shape (and yes it was)the 275 made its way up to 20 km on West Ladybird. Taking some extra fuel along for the trip, the 19 km Norns Creek trail was also groomed to the cat turnaround. Looking at the condition of Cayuse trail it would seem we are getting much more traffic in that direction when comparing to previous years. Although we can't groom it every week we will be paying more attention to it. That being said if you notice it getting bad just let us know by emailing [email protected] or on our face book page so we can plan on getting it fixed up. Goose Creek Trail Feb 28th 2019 With close to 30 cm on the groomed trail Saturday we were not sure if pulling the drag was the best idea or if we should have put the compactor on. As it turned out the drag was a good choice as sled traffic spread out on the trail and made for an easy pull to the airport. Thanks to all of you as you make the trails stand up much longer by getting the air out of the snow before the drag gets to it. We probed 35 cm since last weeks groom with the base holding at 235 cm. On the trail today when turning around up top there was 12 cm of fresh and snowing lightly. Frosty trail was also track packed and wood hauled to both cabins as well. Tip of the week. Get out and enjoy the best snow of the year. Be sure to check the Avy report and the weather forecast before every ride. Have a great weekend. Ladybird Trail Feb 20th 2019 Ladybird trail groomed to 19 km up Norns Creek. All went well with 15 cm of fresh since last weeks groom. . Goose Creek Trail Feb 21st 2019 After last weeks extra couple trips with the cat to get supplies up for our family day event the trail was still in pretty good shape. We did pull the drag up to the airport and were pleased with another 20 cm on the trail since our last groom. We probed a base of 230 cm and snowing lightly during our grooming trip. The snow is still excellent after the first couple km up the trail as the temps have stayed on our side. Frosty trail was tracked packed and we dropped off wood at both cabins. Thanks to everyone who helped out at our fun day event and of course those of you that showed up to make it a success. Thank you Joe Shaw for donating the 50/50 back to the club. Check out the Avy report and have a great weekend. Ladybird Trail Feb 13th 2019 Ladybird Trail groomed to 19 km cat turnaround. Probed 205 cm with 30 cm of fresh powder. Goose Creek Trail Feb 13th 2019 With the expectation of some good snow depths we opted to switch out the drag and put on the compactor bar. Turned out to be a good choice as we had 42 cm of fresh since our last groom up at the airport and a base of 210 cm. The trail was in good shape but with the family day event this weekend we will be doing what we can to pack any new snow before Saturday. Be sure to check avy conditions as anytime we get this much new snow things change quickly. Even if your just sticking to the trail lots of good info on the their website. Hope to see you up at the cabin on Saturday, snow or sun last I heard sledding is a winter sport. The cabin will be warm and dry. Grooming Report Feb 1st 2019 Ladybird Trail Jan 30th 2019 After a busy week repairing the tiller on the 275 it was nice to get on the trail to give it a try. The cat performed well as our vibration we had been feeling was gone. No new snow since last weeks groom so the trail was in pretty good shape. We removed a couple trees from the trail and probed 185 cm at the 19 km cat turnaround. Still decent powder up top with no crust as temps remained cold. Cross your fingers for some fresh as its diffidently needed. Goose Creek Trail Jan 31st 2019 Trail groomed to the airport with the drag in tow all the way up. Dropped some wood and the drag at Shaw and spent some time around the cabin preparing for family day happening Feb 16th. With no new snow the snow pack has settled slightly, down to 190 cm. Cleaned up the Frosty trail and dropped off some wood and propane there as well. On our way up the main trail we came across a hole in the middle of the trail from what looked to be the remains of a burnt sled. Not sure who’s or exactly what this was as most of the parts were gone. Our concern was that no one marked the 3 ft deep hole in the middle of the trail where most sleds travel. Yes most people would see this in the daylight but think about kids and poor visibility conditions anytime your trying to decide whether something could be dangerous as that’s how we do it. Thanks Have a great weekend and plan on the 16th for a get together at the Shaw Cabin. See poster attached. Tip of the week : If you create a hazard or come across one please mark it or let us know so we can make it safe. Thank you for your support. |
