Goose Creek Trail December 12, 2021 Well we waited as long as we could for some fresh snow down into the lower elevations, but with reports of many open ditches we decided to head up for our first run. Very little snow from the parking lot up to about 3 km then after that it becomes pretty decent. By 9 km there was 80cm and up top at the airport we probed 160 cm. Many areas still have open ditches on the sides of the trail and it will take some time to get everything filled. We will continue filling each trip with fresh snow but with running water in many areas it will be a challenge to get things filled as good as we normally can. Please be careful out there as we have not seen this much running water in December at higher elevations in many years. Ladybird Trail December 13, 2021 Ladybird Trail has decent snow right from the parking lot on up. All ditches were filled up top but as was the case on the Goose side we found running water in many of the ditches. Use caution on the trail as with that much running water some ditches me slowly open up again. Up at the cat turn around we probed 120 cm. As we had rain to the top of the mountains a couple weeks ago there is a 10 cm hard crust down about 30cm in the snow pack. Some very distinctive slab layers were showing up as we were filling ditches. Nice dry powder on top of it should make for some good riding just need to be aware of your terrain. Remember it’s early season lots of hazards out there. Please try to help out other riders by marking any unsafe areas like open holes or creeks that may not usually be there. Always remember to check out the avy report before you head out. Almost forgot to mention to pick up your season passes before the end of the month to get in on the great prizes. Hoping everyone has a safe and enjoyable season. Comments are closed.
