Grooming Feb 1st 2018
Goose Creek trail groomed to the Shaw cabin with the drag and the help of the pan (a homemade contraption that we use under the wheels of the drag to help when the snow is heavy at the bottom). At the cabin we decided to drop the drag as the snow was just to deep again to try pull the airport trail. We had been debating on trying but it soon became apparent we had made the right call as the snow just kept getting deeper. At the turnaround we had a base of 290 cm and 80 cm on our tracks since the groom on wed last week when we track packed to there. The snow was heavy till about 3 km then nice powder from there on up. Frosty trail was also track packed and snow is getting close to the deck height there. We dropped firewood at both cabins and headed for home. A big Thank you to whomever helped us out by clearing some trees that were down on the trail the day before.. Feb 1st Ladybird trail also groomed to 10 km with many trees removed from trail. The tiller again was acting up so it was decide to come down and give it another try the next day with more tools on board for testing. Use caution as there are reports of lots of trees on the trail so probably more past 10 km. Please be safe out there, check the avalanche report. Some huge slides on Ladybird have already come down so things are pretty different this year. Feb 2nd Ladybird trail cleared and groomed to 19 km turnaround another 20 trees cut off trail and the tiller issue figured out. The snow was wet till about 10 km then it gets deep. Be careful as trees are coming down all the time. Might be all clear when you go up and not clear when you come down. Stay safe and check the avalanche report. Comments are closed.
