Lady Bird Trail March 18, 2021
Lady Bird Trail groomed to 19 km cat turn around. Spring like conditions with no fresh since our last groom. Parking lot is muddy but no dirt on the trail yet.
Goose Creek Trail March 18, 2021
With another warm week and no fresh snow we had to make a decision on whether to move the cat and drag up the trail for a couple more grooms. We decided to have a look at trail condition so we went as far as 4 km where we decided to turn around and park down at 2km because the trail was in great shape still. Several dirt patches have opened up now so parking with trailers will be tough. As road conditions change daily from here on in it is hard to say where to park, but if you see a snow cat parked it will generally mean don’t try to go past it or you risk getting stuck. From where the cat is parked now there is one dirt section approximately 30 m long but no where to park or turnaround after it, so best to play it safe and park below 2 km or ride Lady Bird Trail until the lower sections of the Goose Creek Trail melt off.
Again another big shout out to SIMM Excavating and Snow Removal for helping us with that $500 dollar fuel donation. Remember every dollar saved throughout the season is another dollar that goes into the club for upgrades. Our next goal is upgrading the Br-180 to a larger machine.
Have a good weekend and be safe out there.
Goose Creek Trail March 11th 2021
With traffic slow this past week and daytime temps staying cool the trail was in pretty good shape.
The cat cleaned up around the Frosty cabin as the snow had come off the roof after the peak was cleared of snow last week.
Up top there was 10 cm of fresh on top of hard pack. The base has settled down to 230 cm. Still no dirt on the trail but it won’t be long now if the weather predicted for the weekend is correct. Great time to do some exploring.
Ladybird Trail March 11th 2021
The trail is in great condition after being inspected on sled it was decided to hold off on the groom for a few more days.
Thankyou Simm Excavating and Snow Removal for the $500 donation in fuel going towards grooming.
Have a great weekend and and be safe out there.
Lady Bird Trail February 28, 2021
Trail groomed to 19 km on Norns Creek, no fresh snow since our last groom and we probed 255 cm of base at cat turn around .
At approximately 9 km on the trail another small hydraulic line decided to call it a season so from there on we had to lift up the tiller and just run the blade to the cat turn around.
Lady Bird Trail, March 4, 2021
After repairs were completed on the Tiller hydraulic line it was decided to push back into East Lady Bird up to 21km then up to West Ladybird for a few kilometres, all went well.
Please note with temperature changes the mountains will become somewhat unpredictable depending on solar radiation and many other factors, spring seems to be arriving early.
Goose Creek Trail March 5, 2021
With reports of the trail holding together quite nicely we will be holding off on grooming as the bottom of the trail does not have much snow on it. When temperatures warm up this much the best thing we can do to save our trail is to not breakthrough the frozen base if it is not required. We will be grooming Goose on a need to groom basis until temperatures drop hopefully next week.
Thank you Arnold contracting for lending a large generator and Cims for helping with the blade repair on the BR 180.
Tip of the week- please respect the neighbourhoods located close to our trail heads, by driving slowly and not parking where are you will hinder driveway access.
Be sure to check the avalanche report and have a good weekend
