Goose Creek Trail Jan 12th 2024 Trail to Airport groomed with drag to the top for the first time this season. All went well but it's cold up there, -34c at the Frosty Cabin on our way down. Be sure to run scratchers and cover all you skin if you dare to go ride. We probed 162cms and 60cms of powder since our last time up. Again be sure to check avy report and be safe out there. Also the Shaw Cabin front door knob is sticky we will replace it or repair it soon for now there is a bungy cord there to hook it up to outside grate for now if it won't latch. Thanks. Goose Creek Jan 7th 2024 With reports of the trail being in bad shape we decided to get on it before the fresh snow got to it. All went well with the drag to the Shaw Cabin and then dropped and headed up with the cat. Still not a great base to be able to pull the meadow hill with the drag, hope we can do it soon. We probed 135cms at the airport with about 15cms of fresh. Ladybird Trail Jan 10th 2023 Trail to 19km cat turnaround groomed from 11km junction. Logging is still going on but they have moved big equipment down to around 6.5km. We are waiting for an update on how things are going and will pass on the info when we get it. Just a reminder please give the cat enough room to get onto the trail head as we prefer not to move trucks to get access Thanks. We probed 145 cms at the 19km marker with about 40 cms of fresh and snowing hard at the time. Big day tommorow for someone, as the Polaris sled draw will be happening at the Hume Hotel meeting room. They have food available and drinks for anyone wanting to attend at 7pm. Thankyou She Shreds Mountain Adventures and Polaris Snowmobiles for the awesome donation to help with everything that goes into this club to keep it going. Yes tickets were sold out long ago if you are wondering. Be safe out there as some very cold temps are coming and always check th avy report before you head out. Sorry about the late report looked like a big fish day today. Lol Goose Creek Trail Jan 4th 2024 Pulled the drag to Shaw Cabin then managed to get the cat up to the airport for its first run of the season. Thanks for the help fellas with a few stumps and small trees cleared off the trail. Several rocks are marked and others only have just minimal snow cover on them. Please go easy on our trails as spinning just uncovers hazards for others. If you do notice any hazards try cover them or mark them for the next guy. We probed 111cm up top with about 10cm of fresh. Parking if changing daily so hard to say where to park. The cat is at 2.5km and pretty good road cover after that. Hoping we can start from the parking lot soon. If we dont get some good snow its your call if you want to drive up some, but when you see the cat at the bottom that means we are trying to get a snow base built and do not want you to drive up any longer. Ladybird Trail Jan 4th 2024 Trail is in good shape but the road up to 11km is icy. You should have chains to be safe and have a radio as logging continues. Congradulations to Meghan Degraff who was the winner of the early bird AST 1 course provided by the Castlegar Snowmobile Association. Be safe out there as still not much cover. Ladybird Trail Dec 30th 2023 Trail groomed from Norns Creek turn off to the 19km cat turnaround. All went well with 98cm of base at turnaround and about 8cm of fresh on the trail. Snow was not great in a couple of spots as temps have been pretty high but the tiller does help with the heavier snow. The road up is icy in spots so chains are recommended or very good tires at the least. Unloading at 9.5 km is also an option as parking at 11km is limited and remember weekdays you need a radio as there is active logging. Goose Creek Trail Dec 30th 2023 Reports of the trail to the cabin was still ok. Most people are unloading up at 2.5 to 3.5km as the snow near the bottom in bad. We will be looking at a couple bypass areas to the airport if we dont get some snow very soon. Have a Happy New Year and all the best from the CSA Goose Creek Trail Dec 23rd 2023 Finally some cooler temps out there so the drag was on the trail to the Shaw cabin. All went well with around 85cms at the cabin and reports of 100cms up at the Airport. No chance to get the airport trail in till we get more snow up there. Most riders are unloading up the road anywhere from 2km to 4km. The road is not to bad after the bluffs at around 2.5km but still some rock out there. Road was pretty good yesterday but can change rapidly with this kind of weather, chains recommended just in case things change. Tracked to Frosty cabin and pushed in to Bankerts trail as best as we could. Use caution as lots of the hazards have very little cover. We parked the drag at 4km and the cat is at 2.5km please don,t block the road as we groom depending on weather conditions. Ladybird Trail Remember there is still active logging taking place on weekdays so you need a radio. Unloading at 11km on Norns and 14km East Ladybird. Last week to pickup your earlybird memberships online on our website or in person at Playmor Power Products. Merry Christmas from the Castlegar Snowmobile Association |
